Tiwai Point Project

The Tiwai Point Project

This is the project designed around using the existing smelter as a main component of the whole project, and was used in the development of the paradigm concept.

Tiwai point has the benefit of being very close to a major energy source suitable for the power plant system as well as being used else where in the complex.  The site is also has over 200,000 tons of SCL (SPL) built up from operations of phase 2 smelter currently on site, making ideal testing site for the environmental solutions.  Tiwai Point also has 1 of 3 natural deep water harbours capable of servicing all the different shipping requirements from bulk carriers to tankers.

The following plants listed below relate directly to the use of this site in both resources and environmental values generated by the complex operations of different industries working together in a symbiotic relationship.

  • Aluminum Smelter both stage 1 and stage 2
  • Titanium smelter
  • Steel mill
  • Stainless Steel mill
  • smaller rear earths mills housed in tight complex

  • 1.7gw energy plant on a barge mounting
  • 400mw rubbish to energy converter
  • 950mw back up generator
  • CO2 recovery system
  • Hydroponic plant
  • Cement fabrication and bagging plant
  • Brick manufacturing plant
  • LNG or a NG plant and terminal
  • Robotics fabrication plant
  • Drone manufacturing plant
  • Battery plant (New technology)
  • 3D metal printing plant
  • Glass fabrication - Fiber optic plant
  • Oil refinery
  • Extrusion plant
  • Environmental treatment system and plants

These are the main components of the Tiwai Point Industrial Hub paperwork submitted to New Zealand government, NSW government, NT government as working project example.  This project is capable of taking on external waste material from other operations and includes recycling components from within New Zealand for example.  Please note that all the supporting systems and components are missing from this list mentioned above.

Tiwai Point is a 6,000 hectare site boarded water on 3 sides and the last large natural wetlands left in New Zealand.  There are also several protect shoreline areas on the point associated with breeding habitats for some rare New Zealand birds.

Located of the coast in the great southern basin is one of the largest natural gas and high grade oil fields in the world, easily capable of sustaining the demands of this project as well as the energy needs of New Zealand while still being able to assist the needs of other countries.

This project is design to protect these habitats while ensuring full commercial viability of the project as a whole.  This will then become the show case plant for all heavy industry going forward. Hence the foundations for the new manufacturing paradigm is established going forward.
